IP Address - Why is this important & How you can find it on your device.

When facing any network related issue an IP address is a key piece of information that helps your support team recognize and trace the root cause of the issue being seen. The IP address that is seen is assigned by the network administrator to ensure that everyone in your building has access to the internet. This address allows computers and other devices to send and receive information to and from other devices within a gives network. When a user has a network related issue and provides the IP address we are then able to compare it to the designated address the user should be getting and find out more information as to where we should focus our attention to resolve the issue. Depending on this information, it may lead us to focus on our equipment, our network configurations, the physical inputs where the user connects or various other areas. Without this information, it may be difficult to trace and resolve the issues being seen in a timely manner.

Sometimes a user/ resident might be unsure as to where and how to find this information. If you find yourself in this position, this article provides instructions on how to locate your IP address through the various platforms that you may be seeing your issues on.

These are some of the most common devices we see residents using, although if you are having trouble finding your IP address, we have made sure to make the IP address field within the ticket form optional just in case. If you are seeing issues with your network connection, feel free to submit a trouble ticket and we will guide you through the process and resolve whatever issue it is you are facing!
